Congratulations to Georgia and Michigan for taking care of business and finishing the regular season plus Conference Championships undefeated.  In a sane world these two would play for the National Championship, but we don't live in a sane world.  We live in a world where "experts" are openly lobbying for a 10-2 Alabama team whose best win was against a Texas team led by their backup quarterback, to jump ahead of a 12-1 TCU whose only loss came in the BIG 12 Championship in overtime against Kansas State.  And the "experts" whole argument is that Alabama would be the favorite if they played TCU.  Should we tell them that betting lines are a reflection of the public and not what Vegas thinks is going to the be outcome of the game?  But back to the madness that is College Football.  Obviously this year would have been a homerun for the old BCS system, 1 plays 2 and voila the winner is the National Champion.  This year would even be a homerun for the oft discussed bowl games plus one idea,  Michigan plays Utah in the Rose and Georgia plays Kansas St in the Sugar, if both win then they would meet in the "plus one" game to decide the Championship.  Where this year does not work is with a 4 team playoff like we have now and certainly not in a 12 team playoff like all the talking heads are so overjoyed with coming in 2024.  As Chaddy Vegas likes to say "who exactly are the people clamoring for a Tulane Alabama matchup?" In all reality there are only two teams left standing and everyone knows it.  Georgia and Michigan stand tall above the rest of College football and it is a damn shame that corporate greed has destroyed the sport we all love.  For us here at Max Action the Top 4 teams in the country are Georgia, Michigan, TCU, and the highest ranked Conference Champion, which should be the 11-2 Clemson Tigers, who we rightly admit has no business being in the playoff, but then again neither does 11-1 Ohio State who lost by 22 at home, and neither does 10-2 Alabama whose resume looks a lot like Penn State's as well as 10-2 Tennessee's who beat Alabama.  The end result is two teams will get a shot to win the National Title who didn't earn it.  The end result is that Georgia and Michigan have to play an extra game before hopefully meeting in the National Championship on January 9th.

Happy New Year to everyone out there in Max Action Land!!!  We had some surprises yesterday like Michigan playing their worst football in the biggest situations, and Georgia storming back to beat Ohio St in the final minutes of play.  TCU now faces the defending Champion Bulldogs on January 9th to try and continue their almost magical run (they did lose in the Big 12 Championship game).

Congratulations to the 49ers on a dominant win over their division rivals and congratulations to Sean Payton on becoming the head coach of the LA Chargers.  What a terrible loss for Brandon Staley and the Bolts.  It simply does not get worse than last night and the only prudent thing for the franchise to do is tear it down completely.  Fire Staley, trade Herbert, and move back to San Diego! It may seem like we are being rash especially with suggesting a trade of your young franchise QB, but look what happened to Matt Ryan and the Falcons.  Look what happened to Deshaun Watson and the Texans, and look what happened to the original playoff chokers Warren Moon and the Oilers.  Not one of those teams or QBs ended up winning a Super Bowl.  Remember, history doesn't lie, the people who tell it do.
